MJ TAPIA
At my age (30+ ?) I didn't expect that I'd still be able to learn as much as what I know now in judo. More than a decade of zero training one might think that it's too late especially with the busy schedule at work and the willingness of the body and mind to train after a stressful day. Thanks to the help of my teammates and our coach Sensei Kambiz, I continuously overcome these inhibitions.

At my age (30+ ?) I didn’t expect that I’d still be able to learn as much as what I know now in judo. More than a decade of zero training one might think that it’s too late especially with the busy schedule at work and the willingness of the body and mind to train after a stressful day. Thanks to the help of my teammates and our coach Sensei Kambiz, I continuously overcome these inhibitions.

Sensei Kambiz’ unwavering motivation, encouragement and advises have pushed not just me but everyone else in the team to be a better judoka every training.

Sensei is an embodiment of what Shihan Kano has said, “The teaching of one virtuous person can influence many; that which has been learned well by one generation can be passed on to a hundred.” He mentors us and he also encourages us to teach others as well.

In the team we take pride not in our individual achievements but in what we have helped each other to achieve.

WE ARE DIFFERENT!!!

“Be gentle, kind and beautiful, yet firm and strong, both mentally and physically.” -Shihan Keiko Fukuda, 9th Dan Kodokan
